Last Saturday, I had the pleasure of second shooting for Kien Lam Photography for the coverage of Jennie and Eng’s wedding. It was such a gorgeous wedding, taking place in a dream location in the mountains of Malibu – Calamigos Ranch. Jennie looked so princess-like, as she wore a tiara, ballgown dress, and sparkly Christian Louboutin shoes. And Eng, I think he was pretty blown away when he saw his princess (soon to be queen) during their First Look!
Jamie and Randy had SUCH a chill wedding. One of the reasons for that is because they already got married late last year in Hawaii!- and they wanted to host another wedding in the Montrose area as some of their closest friends and family couldn’t make it the first time around. Even the priest (who wore sandals, btw! :D) commented on how Jamie and Randy were one of the most at-ease and relaxed couple he’s ever united, haha.
The ceremony was held in Holy Redeemer – St. James the Less Catholic church in Montrose. Afterwards, everyone went to Randy’s parents’ house for a laid-back backyard wedding reception. Their reception was filled with colorful paper lanterns, pretty patterned papers, and tacos!
Jamie and Randy, thank you for having me photograph your wedding!
When Hilda opened her hotel room door, she was as calm as a butterfly. She had already gotten her hair done and was sorting out the guest table name cards for the reception. When Luis opened his hotel room door, he was a bit less calm. But that didn’t stop the guys from watching a bit of sports.
Keeping to traditions, Hilda and Luis never laid eyes until the grand entrance of the Bride at the Church. It was clear how must Luis loves Hilda in that instant, as his eyes instantly began to water. And no wonder, for Hilda looked gorgeous in her dress!
Thank you, Hilda and Luis, for having me photograph your wedding day!
For a couple who thinks they don’t photograph well, Dee and Jonathan look amazing in these! We went to El Matador Beach in Malibu, which turned out to be a hot-spot for photographers. We soon understood why – the scenery was breathtaking. Huge cliffs met the sandy beach, with various sized rocks scattered on the shore.
Dee and Jonathan were such troopers during the session, as we had to hike up and down the steep cliff a few times as well as step into the icy-cold water for a few minutes. But they are the kind of couple that are adventurous and I ended up being the one that was out of breath at the end of the session!
Dee and Jonathan, I can’t wait to photograph your wedding in April!
I’ve been corresponding on and off with Claudia since around the time that I started Paper Ban Photography this summer. Basically, she’s seen my progression and has been so supportive about it.
I was finally able to meet her and her fiance Mark this past Saturday over at a park in Whittier. She was as lovely and sweet as I expected her to be! Mark is lucky to have her! They’ve been engaged for a year, and have the wedding date set for some time next fall. They’re such a gorgeous and heart-warming couple!
Like I said, we went to a park to photograph their engagement session. Claudia thought that since their wedding is a fall wedding, it would be best to have their engagement photos reflect the season as well. I couldn’t agree more, as the fall leaves, with colors of gold and auburn, created a dreamy and surreal backdrops for this set of images.
Claudia and Mark, thank you for having me as your engagement photographer and I look forward to further photograph your wedding!
