Couples Portraits

Jared and Chris’s Couple’s Portrait Session

DFW Engagement PhotographerOver seven years ago, on a bit of a whim, I started my journey in photographing complete strangers that, in turn, became familiar faces. It’s been an arduous voyage that’s taken me through many hurdles, both good and bad. I’ve been able to meet so many amazing people, have been given so many great experiences, and through capturing other people’s moments, were able to make my own at the same time. But it’s been a lonely road. And we all know that everything is more fun when you have someone to share it with.

After moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area, I met Jared, a fellow photographer with a spunky attitude and a lively laugh. We hit it off pretty quickly and I knew we would make a great team. That is why I am excited to announce that Jared is our newest addition to Paper Ban Photography team!

I had the pleasure of photographing him and his partner Chris one afternoon, and they are such goofballs when they’re together, as you can see. In so many ways, they are such opposites. But you know what they say – opposites attract!

Manny and Megan’s Engagement Portraits at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

Dallas Arboretum Engagement Photograph

Texas’ summer is no joke. As someone used to Southern California’s somewhat consistent weather, having to deal with the heat of summer in Dallas-Fort Worth was something that I have not gotten used to. Triple digits is not uncommon. In a lot of ways, this makes photographing difficult because all you want to do is run into an air-conditioned room. And yet! When it came to Megan and Manny’s engagement session at the Dallas Arboretum, and later on in the Bishop Arts district, they came off so naturally unaffected by the heat. In fact, they were the heat.

We can’t wait to photograph your wedding in just a few months!

Chrissy and John’s Engagement Portraits in El Matador Beach

El Matador Engagement Session

You know when you meet a couple and their chemistry just explodes? That’s what happened when I photographed Chrissy and John at El Matador Beach for their engagement session the other day. Amongst the California super bloom, I witnessed sparks flying and it translated so well onto the photos in this blog post. I mean, swoon!

Although these guys reside in Northern California, most of their families are located in the Los Angeles area, which is where their summer wedding will be. Best of both worlds, am I right? They were such a hoot to photograph, I cannot wait to document their big day this upcoming August!

Kristina and Brandon’s San Francisco Engagement Portraits

Palace of Fine Arts Engagement PortraitRight off the bat, Kristina and Brandon’s chemistry was strong. She is the talker, and he is the quiet one. She knew what she wanted, and he went with the flow. It was adorable to witness how well they worked as a couple – his yin to her yang.

As residents of San Diego, they decided to take a trip to San Francisco for their engagement portraits. We made two stops – one at the Palace of Fine Arts and one at Muir Woods. Both locations were just stunning, and they looked amazing in both!

I seriously can’t wait to shoot their Palm Springs wedding next month!

Norma and Jose’s Engagement Portraits at Torrey Pines

San Diego Engagement Portrait Session

TORREY PINES, CALIFORNIA

Norma and Jose initially contacted me earlier this year about their Spring 2019 wedding. I could tell they were really excited to get the ball rolling with their wedding plans. We scheduled their engagement session for August, but before the session, I received two amazing emails from them. The first was announcing that they are pregnant and I was the first to hear about it! To say that I was very honored is an understatement. The second was announcing that they had a civil ceremony and are now newlyweds! Oh, what joys they must be feeling right now.

I tell you this because it explains a lot about the photos featured in this post. Norma and Jose’s first outfit is what they wore to their civil ceremony. How gorgeous is her tulle dress! The second outfit is a beautiful burgundy dress that accentuates Norma baby bump and makes her pop against the amazing San Diego coastline. By the way, apparently the baby is set to be born on Christmas! And if that happens, he/she and I will be sharing the same birthday!

Annie and Jason’s Malibu Beach Engagement Portraits

Malibu Engagement Portrait PhotographerMALIBU, CALIFORNIA

For a while, it seemed like the weather god was just not participating for Annie and Jason’s engagement session. How is it that sunny Southern California kept anticipating rain during spring?! Haha, but really, everything turned out just fine for their session. In fact, better than fine. We wandered around El Matador Beach in Malibu and these guys just oozed romance. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding this summer!
