Sanam’s Backyard Bridal Shower

STEVENSON RANCH, CALIFORNIA

In a wedding, there are so many milestones in and of itself. There’s the proposal, the wedding dress hunt, the wedding planning, the bachelor(ette) parties, etc. etc. And then there’s the bridal shower. The bridal shower, where the bridesmaids host a party in honor of the bride, is what I happen to photograph a couple of weeks ago for a sweetheart of a bride name Sanam.

Taking place in her mother’s home, who was also one of the hosts, this intimate bridal shower was decked out in beautiful floral bouquets, stringed lanterns, homemade food and a delectable cake made from their family-owned bakery!

As the event progressed, food was eaten, games were played, but little did Sanam know a surprise was waiting for her. In the middle of opening some beautifully wrapped presents, a knock on the door occurred. One of her bridesmaids opened it, and in waltz her fiancé! If Sanam’s face was smiling before, her face was just lighting up like a Christmas tree at that moment!

Mateo’s First Birthday

MONTEREY PARK, CALIFORNIA

One year ago, I photographed little Mateo being delivered into this world. Now, he’s all grown up! Celebrating his one year birthday with close friends and family members at a park in Monterey Park, Mateo dressed up in an adorable onesies with a bow-tie and a golfer’s hat – dapper as always!

There were more than family and friends at the birthday party, however, as members of Yo Gabba Gabba stopped by to wish Mateo a happy birthday as well! Everyone seemed to have had such a great time, especially when it came to hitting the piñatas for the candy rain to occur.

Mateo, thank you for having me as your one-year birthday photographer!

Aram’s First Birthday

GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA

Aram’s first birthday was quite the event. This little guy, in his snappy onesie and glasses, received his baptism in the Armenian Apostolic Church in Crescenta Valley. With gorgeous architecture and beautiful window lighting, the christening ceremony went off with such happy spirits surrounded by close friends and family.

To celebrate, the party’s reception moved to Phoenicia, a Lebanese restaurant in Glendale where the room was filled with whimsical balloons! From the table centerpieces to the sweets table, everything is so happy and colorful. And seriously, how awesome is that hot-air balloon cake?!

Aram, congratulations on turning one. I am honored to have been your first birthday photographer. You are now officially a toddler!

Perry

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA

During a clear and bright day in Southern California, a little girl name Perry celebrated her 1 year birthday. It was a celebration that graduated her from the year of being a baby into her next stage in life – being a toddler.

The birthday celebration took place in her backyard that overlooked the Pasadena neighborhood. Perry was dressed in a cute floral outfit as she enjoyed the party, until it was time for business. In the Korean tradition, when a baby turns one, they ‘choose their future’, meaning they are placed on a mat with several objects in front of them, each symbolizing a different career. Perry, now in her adorable traditional Korean dress, crawled towards the ruler.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, a future architect! Thank you, Perry, for having me as your one-year birthday photographer!

Lisa and Ryan

MONTEREY PARK, CALIFORNIA

Photographing an Indonesian event is a big deal for me. If you didn’t know, I’m Indonesian. However, in all my years, I’ve only attended a handful of authentic Indonesian cultural events, and in that regards, I feel I’ve failed some part of my ancestors’ history. So I love it whenever I am asked to photograph an Indonesian event in Los Angeles!

The day after their wedding, Lisa and Ryan wanted me to photograph their ‘after-wedding’ lunch at NBC Seafood Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant located inMonterey Park. One of things I love about Asian events is that there’s always so much food!

Swati and Nick

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA

After getting married in paradise (is Hawaii anything else?) this past summer, Nick and Swati wanted to take their celebration to the next level – by having a backyard reception for friends and family who couldn’t make it overseas. It was an intimate gathering, taking place a Southern California fall evening. The neighborhood was pitch dark, with only the sprinkles of light from Nick and Swati’s celebrating lighting the air. Swati looked stunning in her her red and gold Indian attire. And Nick looked so handsome in his!

Congratulations, and wishes of everlasting love to the newlyweds! Thank you for having me as your events photographer!
