Three years ago, I had the honor of photographing Carla and Andrew’s rustic wedding. Now, they’re hitting a new milestone in their life as they add a new addition to family. To document such a momentous occasion, they’ve kindly asked me to photograph their maternity session. How could I not?! So we hit up the beach one recent weekend and swooned over the light that just made them glow in the setting!
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
End of the year family portraits are always fun to photograph, as it documents a small milestone through the progression of life. I had the pleasure of photographing the K family recently in their beautiful home on a Los Angeles hillside. With two kids running around and showing me their world, it was easy to capture the essence of their childhood. They ran around, collecting leaves, showed me their stuffed animals collection, played with their bikes and their scooters. And when the kids started reading with their parents – it’s so cute!
PASADENA, CALIFORNIA
It was an honor for Nate and Marissa to have asked me to document their wedding at the Wilshire Restaurant. And now, I am way beyond honored to have been asked to photograph their son, Teddy, for his first year portraits, ESPECIALLY since they live in San Francisco! I never get tired of saying this, but I feel so lucky to have the most awesome people to photograph!
It’s been a couple of years since I saw them last, and I have to say that parenthood definitely suits them. Teddy is SUCH an adorable baby (or should I say toddler) to work with. He was so calm throughout the whole process and just enjoyed being a baby, which meant playing with bubbles, going down slides, and eating some cold and refreshing ice cream!
MARINA DEL RAY, CALIFORNIA
Having photographed Jeni a couple of times during her journey through her pregnancy – first for her maternity portraits, and then for her baby shower – I was really excited to meet little Jack for his 3 month portrait session! We photographed him in his natural habitat – at home and in diapers. For some reason, I love seeing babies in diapers. Maybe it’s all those years watching Rugrats, hah.
Jack was such a cute little baby! He was quiet and ponderous most of the time, and we must have worked him hard for this session because he fell asleep as soon as we were done, haha. I’m really looking forward to seeing him for his 6 month portrait session and seeing how much he’s grown up!

To mark little Avery’s big 1st birthday, the Sim family wanted to have a portrait session in nature. She dressed up so adorably in her pink tutu, beaded necklace, and party hat, it was clear she was ready for her upcoming birthday bash! And then the rest of the family joined in on the fun as we explored the park some more.
MARINA DEL REY, CALIFORNIA
At 34 weeks along in her pregnancy, I photographed the lovely Jeni (with a guest appearance by her husband Dave!) in and around her Marina Del Rey apartment. With a bedroom that had amazing natural light, we were able to capture some homely and laid-back shots that I absolutely love. And then the outdoor shots .. *heart*.
