In a quiet beautiful mid-century home in LA, Jack had his first Backyard Birthday Party and it was an intimate affair with close friends in attendance. Soon enough, though, the party was “raising the tent” as everyone gathered under the outdoor tent, singing some fun songs, shaking some instruments, and playing with some bubbles. Ah, to be one again.
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA
With El Nino looming in the air, I was excited to find that the day we were shooting Alex and Lucia’s engagement portraits, the weather was beautifully crisp and clear. We started the session in a quiet park overlooking downtown Los Angeles that I never knew about!
The last time I saw these two were in the summer of last year, so it was really nice to see them again, all dolled up and ready for the camera, haha. But seriously, how photogenic do these ladies look?! They also brought their adorable English Pug in his cute bow-tie with them to the shoot. Ah, I can’t wait to photograph their wedding in a few months!
MONTROSE, CALIFORNIA
It’s always fun to celebrate someone’s birthday, but I’ve found that the fun is turned up a notch when the birthday coincides with a special date. Reese is a lucky girl to have her birthday on Halloween, as it’s such a festive day!
For her first birthday, she had a circus-themed party filled with circus treats like cotton candy and popcorn and sprinkles on everything. So many people dressed up in such cute outfits. Reese herself had a matching outfit with her mom that involved poofy pink tutus, and looked SO adorable.
SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA
Days after we took Jeni’s maternity portraits, she and her husband Dave held their baby shower at the chic The Huntley Hotel in Santa Monica beach. They had such a cute theme for their party – yellow ducks! Jeni’s sister told me they made all the decorations and party favors themselves, to which I give mad props because the ‘Baby’ chocolate sticks look and taste so professionally done!
The event was simple and elegant. It was a pleasure photographing Jeni and Dave with their friends and family, and to witness all the polaroids that Jeni’s brother took of the guests!
MARINA DEL REY, CALIFORNIA
At 34 weeks along in her pregnancy, I photographed the lovely Jeni (with a guest appearance by her husband Dave!) in and around her Marina Del Rey apartment. With a bedroom that had amazing natural light, we were able to capture some homely and laid-back shots that I absolutely love. And then the outdoor shots .. *heart*.

MALIBU, CALIFORNIA
I absolutely love laid-back clients, and Ryan and Eliotte were as laid-back as you can get! These two met when they were in college. Ryan had signed up for a fundraising event in which he and his teammates had to perform a dance, and lo and behold, Eliotte was the dance coordinator. You would think that this story follows as is: Ryan outshined the rest of his teammates and won Eliotte’s hearts through his sly dance moves. Instead, he admitted that he often skipped the lessons and only till the performance day did he and Eliotte actually meet!
It quickly became apparent why these two make a great couple. Throughout the whole session, they could not stop smiling and laughing. Even when I was at the top of the cliff and photographing down at them from afar, I could hear them laughing away, haha.
