Jackie and Bobby’s Backyard Wedding

Los Angeles Intimate Wedding Photographer

locationGRANADA HILLS + SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA

Bobby and Jackie is the most well-traveled couple I’ve had the pleasure of encountering. Traveling the world is part of their lifestyle, and they do it with such happiness and excitement. It’s only fitting to include this part of their life into their wedding! For their wedding, I traveled to four different locations within Los Angeles – Jackie’s house to photograph her and her bridesmaids getting ready, to Bobby’s house for their beautifully done backyard ceremony, to Santa Monica Pier to photograph the bridal party portraits and have some major fun at the arcade, and to the Santa Monica Bay’s Woman’s Club for the reception.

It’s very apparent how much in love Jackie and Bobby is by the way that he makes her laugh every moment they’re together. It’s also very apparent how much love they’re received by their friends and family as many eyes were in tears during the exchanges of their vows. I’m glad I was able to be part of their wedding day as their photographer.

Sara and Paul’s Urban Wedding

Los Angeles Wedding Photographer

locationLOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

As you know, Los Angeles is a huge city with so many interesting nooks and crannies that goes undiscovered. Sara and Paul’s urban wedding took place in such a location. In an industrial area right by a Los Angeles River bridge is a warehouse that recently got turned into awesome event venue, to which they call Elysian.

Paul and Sara’s wedding was a fairly small gathering full of close friends and families. Both the bride and groom got ready at the venue, and spirits were high as both expressed how excited, yet slightly nervous, they were while getting ready. But all changed when they saw each other during their First Looks.

Their wedding was such a fun event to photograph. They are such a down to Earth couple who simply wanted to get married and celebrate with their loved ones, while not taking things so seriously. I mean, their First Dance was unexpected, their wedding cake had bears as their wedding toppers, and their deserts were cookies and milk. Yum!

Jen and Jim’s Beach Engagement

Los Angeles Engagement Photographer

locationSANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA

When I met Jen and Jim for their engagement session, they had just landed in Los Angeles a mere few hours prior. You see, they’re from Sacramento, and the day after their engagement session is actually their wedding day! This is an unusual circumstance to have an engagement session so close to the wedding day, mainly because many couples use these images for their ‘save the date’ or announcement of their wedding.

However, I am so happy we were still able to do Jim and Jen’s engagement session irregardless of dates. One of the reasons is because during this session, it allows the clients and I to get familiarized with each other so that, on the day of the wedding, they are comfortable and relaxed enough with me to let me in their personal space.

Photographing Jen and Jim for this session was a blast. They were so cute together! Because their wedding would be a beach wedding, they wanted their engagement photos to be on the beach as well. In one of the photos, you can see Shutters on the Beach in the background, which is where they’ll be having their reception on their wedding day. You can see Santa Monica Pier in the distance in some of these images as well, and I absolutely love them!

Marissa and Nathan

locationSANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA

I love small and intimate weddings.. have I mentioned that before? And as Nathan and Marissa described their plans for their wedding – ceremony and reception taking place in a restaurant in Santa Monica – I had googley eyes! As we met over their engagement session, it became clear that a backyard type of wedding is just the perfect type for this couple.

Their wedding day arrived. Marissa looked beautiful with her hair neatly curled and her imported-from-Australia lace wedding dress while Nathan was ever-so-snappy in his navy colored suit and slicked hair. What’s more,  they opted to get ready together in the same hotel room, irregardless what superstition and tradition has been place. Rebels, I say!

And as their beautiful day goes on, the merry celebration of their union continues on to the late night under the dark L.A sky.

ABBOT KINNEY + VENICE CANAL, CALIFORNIA

Something that I’ve always loved about shooting on-location instead of in a studio is that I get to visit new and unexplored locations! I totally love it when clients pick a location that I’ve never been to! In this case, Sara and Paul wanted their engagement photos to be in a hip street in Venice called ‘Abbot Kinney’ that’s filled with boutiques and earthy restaurants.

We visited a couple of places, including a pizza place called Gjelina and a coffee shop named Intelligensiaand then roamed the somewhat hidden Venice Canal.

Sara and Paul were such a cute couple to photograph! Paul admitted he thinks he’s horrible in photos, but my gosh, he did so well! And Sara was so fearless when I asked them to go where no human really wants to go – near spiders!

I’m so looking forward to photographing your wedding this fall!

Greg and Katie

Santa Barbara City Hall Wedding PhotographerlocationSANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA

I have never been to Santa Barbara before Greg and Katie’s wedding, and I am embarrassed to say that. The city is gorgeous! On the day of their wedding, the sky was the perfect shade of blue, the breeze was nice and relaxing, and my bride and groom just made the city that much better.

Greg and Katie held their wedding ceremony at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Mural Room, which is a beautiful painted room within an already beautiful courthouse full of arches, mosaics, and colors. With a guest list of only immediate relatives and close friends, the lovely couple was wedded.

The reception was taken a couple of blocks down, in a cozy pizzaria called Olio. I felt like I was seriously in Italy in that restaurant! And just like the old saying, ‘a family that eats together, stays together,’ all the guests sat together in one big table, enjoying each other’s company in celebration of the new family that has been formed.
