2013 – A Year in Review

family_004

2013 marks Paper Ban Photography’s first full year as a business and boy, was it tough at times! All the little details started to add up and nothing was like before, where photography was my main focus. Instead my schedule included more marketing, online photography seminars, and business books more than anything else!

However, 2013 became the year that I learned so much more about myself as a business owner. As the days passed by this year, little things were continuously being changed in order to accommodate my clients’ needs better. This included how I presented their online gallery, how I deliver their photos, how to designed my website, what to include in session packages, etc.

Carla and Andrew’s Rustic Wedding

When Carla and Andrew explained what they had in store for their wedding while shooting their engagement session, I was beyond excited to photograph their big day. Then that day finally came and everything seemed more than perfect. Out in Oak Glen, CA – aka Apple Country – Carla and Andrew’s wedding took place in a beautiful estate called Riley’s Farm.

Carla, the most DIYer of any bride I’ve ever met, looked flawless in her handcrafted hair piece and self-applied makeup. And as soon as she (with the help of mother and sister!) put on her wedding gown – stunning. With Andrew though, all he has to do is just smile, tuck the good ol’ bow-tie here and there, and he’s good to go, haha.

Everyone was all smiles during the day. And who wouldn’t be, when we’re celebrating the union of two such heart-warming souls? Congratulations to Carla and Andrew!

When Claudia opened her hotel door for us, she was nothing but smiles. In her ‘bride’ robe, she generated such a calming spirit while the rest of the room was in a level of hyper-excitement for the day coming. Each of the bridesmaids marked their territory in the room, for which they can doll themselves up – there were even five girls in the bathroom at one point, haha. All their work paid off, as everyone, especially Claudia, looked gorgeous!

It has been a year since seeing Mark and Claudia last. We had met up at a park in Whittier to photograph their engagement session. Claudia had the brilliant idea of photographing it during the same time of year as the wedding so that the photos will coordinate better with the wedding. How right she was! During the ceremony at the Friendly Hills Country Club, their friends and family had a beautiful view to look at – a wonderful couple that’s about to tie the knot in front of clouds of green and orange, like in a dream…

Thank you, Claudia and Mark, for having me photograph your special day!
