VENICE BEACH, CALIFORNIA

Little Austin, with his big and fluffy cheeks, is turning one this month! As part of his big birthday bash, Paula and Denny wanted a birthday cake-smash session. So during Halloween, before all the houses even opened their doors to trick-or-treaters, we met up at Venice Pier so Austin could wreak havoc on a very delicious cake.

With the sun setting behind him, Austin never looked back once he got a taste of The Cake.

Lethy

A few weeks ago, I tried a new genre of photography that had intrigued me. It was a raw genre, and had to be done very photojournalistically. This genre, that’s quite becoming a thing, is birth photography.

Joelle

HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA

Newborn Joelle arrived just the day after April 1st. She was a tiny littlest thing, and definitely the quietest. As I tried to keep her peacefully asleep, the house was so full of commotion of her arrival that she ultimately woke up and stayed awake. Yet, she never cried. Joelle’s eyes blinked, fluttered, and peered with wonder at all of us that ogled her.

Lorelei

ALHAMBRA, CALIFORNIA

I had the pleasure of meeting baby (and now toddler) Lorelai late last year for a family holiday photo session. But since then, her mother wanted more pictures, this time for Lorelai’s first birthday. And so came to fruitition a birthday cake smash in a local park! She dressed up in a cute pink frilly one-piece, and later in a tutu. I have a feeling that she loved her outfit so much, Lorelai didn’t want to ruin it by putting cake all over her outfit. I say this because she handled the cake so proper!- just dabbing the cake lightly with her fingers and eating with a pinkie up in the air. This cake smash was so fun to photograph!

Itzla and Senya

PASADENA, CALIFORNIA

When kids are set loose in parks or playgrounds, something in their spirits seem to just lift. They run around, zooming to anything that catches their eye or any fellow playground-ers nearby. Or perhaps this only occurs to Itzla and Senya.

Recently, I was given the joy to photograph these two girls, who have such different personalities. The younger one, Itzla, loved to walk, play on the slides, and had such a calm demeanor. The older one, Senya, enjoyed just about everything at the park, with some scrapes to prove it!

They were so busy with playing around that they barely noticed the camera, so I was just able to blend in the background and capture purely candid photos of them. Don’t they just look adorable?!

The Kalara Family

During New Years Eve, I had the chance to photograph Sunny and his family in their beautiful home. They were so energetic throughout the whole process; I don’t believe I’ve met a more energetic family!
