Mark and Marisol Intimate Wedding

Los Angeles Intimate Wedding Photographer

locationBEVERLY HILLS, CALIFORNIA & DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA

A few weeks ago, Mark and Marisol celebrated their beautiful and intimate wedding all over Los Angeles. The celebration began on a bright and sunny California winter morning in Beverly Hills’ Franklin Canyon Park where the bride and groom got ready for the day ahead. Marisol looked absolutely gorgeous as her bridesmaids helped her into her wedding dress, and even more beautiful as she walked down the aisle of the amphitheater with her father.

For lunch, the bridal party headed to a place that Mark and Marisol spent a lot of meals at: the Johnny Rockets on Melrose. I love how laid back this couple is! A bride munching on chicken fingers and a groom chowing down a burger? Too cool.

Everyone gathered back together for the reception held at the rooftop of The Oviatt in Downtown Los Angeles. Oh my, this historic building is so beautiful, and going up to the rooftop felt like being transported to a different era. The decor had the gorgeous 1920’s feel of the Art Deco time period. I loved it! And the rooftop! So pretty! Being surrounded by the surrounding skyscrapers of DTLA was magical.

I absolutely loved photographing Mark and Marisol’s Los Angeles intimate wedding. They were such a sweet, sweet couple and I adore how they put their own personalities to every aspect of their big day.

The Behnken Family

Los Angeles Lifestyle Family Photographer

locationPASADENA, CALIFORNIA

Not many people know that there is an alternative way to photograph your family aside from the traditional way (heading out to a great location and taking happy photos), and one of them is the ‘Day in the Life’ documentary-style photos. How this style is different from traditional family portraits is that instead of directing my clients into poses, I am a fly on the wall as the family goes about their normal daily lives, and let the emotions and reactions of the family members unfold itself naturally.

I began photographing this family on an early Sunday morning. The streets were quiet and peaceful, and the Behnken household began to stir, starting with little Sterling. With as much energy that she could muster up, Katherine led him to the backyard, away from his sleeping dad. As the day progressed, everyone enjoyed a fresh breakfast on their front lawn, followed by something they were super excited about – setting up the net for their trampoline! Of course, this was a father-son activity, and Sterling was more than happy to help his dad, Lukas. Soon after, everyone enjoyed the fruits of their labor with some (safe) trampoline fun!

Then, I followed them on a grocery trip where the four things on their ‘to-buy’ list ended in a full cart. Oh, I’m so glad I’m not the only one who does this, haha. As we explored the grocery store, Sterling followed his parent’s footsteps and helped pick out some of his favorite foods to take home.

Once we head back to their Pasadena home, Lukas asked if I would be interested in photographing them while he cuts Sterling’s hair into a mohawk. Um… YES?! By that time, it was roughly noon, which is normally when Sterling takes his day nap. The energy that he had in the beginning of the day began to falter as Lukas started snip-snipping away Sterling’s precious blond hair in their backyard patio, and Katherine had to keep the little guy entertained in the meanwhile.

In the end, the haircut didn’t get finished as Sterling’s patience had reached its limits. I couldn’t fault him for that; they’ve had such a busy morning!

And so, with his hair turned into a partial mohawk, Sterling called it a day and entered into the realm where dreams run amuck.

Quarternity Knits Lookbook

Los Angeles Knitwear Lookbook photographer

Two years ago, back when I first started my photography journey, I photographed Angelia of Quarternity Knit‘s collection of knitting patterns for various knitting publications. My, how time flies!

On a side street sidewalk of a quiet neighborhood, we met once again to photograph her latest knitting pattern lookbook, this time with the beautiful Bebe as our model. I will tell you, without a doubt, I knew nothing about knitting and crocheting prior to this photoshoot. I learned how to make a scarf back in the day but that’s about it. Being surrounded by three ladies that day that were so knowledgeable and engrossed in this craft was refreshing, and I ended up learning quite a bit about this foreign knitting world, and wow, they made themselves sound like an intense group of people! Haha.

GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA

Aram’s first birthday was quite the event. This little guy, in his snappy onesie and glasses, received his baptism in the Armenian Apostolic Church in Crescenta Valley. With gorgeous architecture and beautiful window lighting, the christening ceremony went off with such happy spirits surrounded by close friends and family.

To celebrate, the party’s reception moved to Phoenicia, a Lebanese restaurant in Glendale where the room was filled with whimsical balloons! From the table centerpieces to the sweets table, everything is so happy and colorful. And seriously, how awesome is that hot-air balloon cake?!

Aram, congratulations on turning one. I am honored to have been your first birthday photographer. You are now officially a toddler!

Behind the Scenes of ‘Confetti by Annette’

Los Angeles Small Business Owner About

Something that I love about being a small business owner is working with other small business owners and helping them spread their creations visually through photography. You may have remembered that I photographed a fun and colorful jewelry lookbook for Confetti by Annette recently. Recently, Annette and I got together on a lovely Saturday to photograph where her jewelry ideas come to life.

As soon as I walked into her home jewelry studio, I was met with everything that represented Annette and her brand as a ‘Confetti’ girl. All the decor had color and personality, and flowed so well together that it was hard not to take a great photo. Yes, guys, Annette really is as cheerful as the colors on her walls!

Perry

Los Angeles Birthday Events Photographer

location PASADENA, CALIFORNIA

During a clear and bright day in Southern California, a little girl name Perry celebrated her 1 year birthday. It was a celebration that graduated her from the year of being a baby into her next stage in life – being a toddler.

The birthday celebration took place in her backyard that overlooked the Pasadena neighborhood. Perry was dressed in a cute floral outfit as she enjoyed the party, until it was time for business. In the Korean tradition, when a baby turns one, they ‘choose their future’, meaning they are placed on a mat with several objects in front of them, each symbolizing a different career. Perry, now in her adorable traditional Korean dress, crawled towards the ruler.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, a future architect! Thank you, Perry, for having me as your one-year birthday photographer!
